Tom Clancy's is a branding used by video game company Ubisoft for video games, some of which feature the works of American author Tom Clancy, while a majority of the games are unrelated to Clancy's work. The various sub-series are unrelated to each other, although most are shooters in modern or near-future military settings.

History[edit]

Red Storm was later bought by publisher Ubisoft, which continued to use the Clancy name, though the extent of Clancy's actual involvement with creation of the games and development of intellectual properties, if any, was unclear. This game series includes:

Aspyr Media announced on Tuesday that it will ship Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword for Macintosh in October. Priced at US$29.99, the squad-based first-person shooter is an expansion pack for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, which Aspyr shipped earlier this year. After traveling around the world to foil a doomsday plot in that game, the Rainbow Six team heads to the Mediterranean to continue the story in Athena Sword, which features eight new missions set in six levels, five new multi-player levels and three classic missions — updated with the Unreal game engine — from the previous Rainbow Six releases.

In addition, Athena Sword offers five new multi-player modes — adversarial terrorist hunt, adversarial scattered hunt, capture the enemy, kamikaze and countdown — as well as seven new weapons, including two types of assault rifles. The game requires the full version of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield to play, but Aspyr had not yet released full system requirements, nor had it completely updated the title’s product page, as MacCentral posted this article.
