The producer of The Simpsons: Hit & Run believes that the game could be remastered in the near future. The game, which originally came out in 2003, followed the Simpsons as they drive around. The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a 2003 action-adventure game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games. It is based on the American animated sitcom The Simpsons, and is the twenty-second installment in the Simpsons series of video games. The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a bit of a cult classic for a lot of gamers. Here are some reasons it needs a remake (& why it shouldn't get one). By Matthew Wilkinson Published Oct 07, 2020.
Speaking to LAD Bible, The Simpsons: Hit & Run producer Vlad Ceraldi said that a remake or a remaster could happen: “It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it.
For many of us, the classic game that launched 17 years ago (!) brings back some fond memories. If you weren’t old enough to be playing Grand Theft Auto III (GTA 3), The Simpsons: Hit And Run was the second-best thing. Arguably, it was superior in some elements but let’s save that conversation for a different day. It was received incredibly well by the masses, with recorded sales of over three million units worldwide. It also received the award for Fave Video Game at the 2004 Nickelodeon Australian Kids' Choice Awards. If that doesn’t scream success then we don’t know what does.
The game’s producer, Vlad Ceraldi, sat down with LADbible and teased a potential remaster that would possibly make all 80's/90's kids lose their damn minds.
He explained: “I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster. It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.”
He added: “As far as why it stood the test of time, I think it’s a game that kids could play, adults could play, anyone who was fans of the show could try and laugh and have fun with…
“When you make something, sometimes you know you’ve made something special. This was one of the ones that we knew we hit the mark. We didn’t know it was going to sell as well as it did – we had high hopes, but it definitely hit its expectations.”
Well you can certainly say that again. Here, nearly 20 years later, we’re still talking about it. Fingers crossed for a remake soon.

There’s no doubt that The Simpsons is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. Following its success, video games patterned on it became a hit as well. Many would likely agree that the best among them was The Simpsons Hit & Run. Recently, developers have been releasing remakes of all-time favorite games. These include Final Fantasy VIII, Crash Team Racing, and Resident Evil 2 among many others. That said, there’s still hope for fans to get their hands on The Simpsons Hit & Run remastered version. In fact, it’s actually possible as per the game’s producer, Vlad Ceraldi.
“I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster. It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.”
It’s been over 16 years since the video game’s original release in 2003. If you grew up playing this game, then we’re sure that you’ve been looking forward to this remake news all your life. While it may remind you of how old you are, it will also relive unforgettable childhood memories for sure. And yes, we live for these kinds of nostalgic games.
The game’s plot revolved around the Simpsons’ and Apu’s quest to discover and defeat an alien conspiracy led by Kang and Kodos. Fans can still surely recall countless hours toiled away driving around Springfield. Nevertheless, this game’s one for the books. And most of us can probably agree that it was a big part of our childhood. Back then, Ceraldi knew for a fact that the game was going to be special. True enough, the game encompassed players of varying age groups and withstood the test of time.
“I think it’s a game that kids could play, adults could play, anyone who was fans of the show could try and laugh and have fun with.”

However, we advise fans not to get your hopes too high just yet, no matter how promising all these seem. Sadly, the producer admitted that the team only had the discussions within the four corners of a pub. While we often hear people say that drunk talk is real talk, we can never be too sure.
“It’s come up before in discussion but not seriously, usually at the pub, just talking about the idea of some of the magic that was captured and the potential ability to recapture it in a new way with a different audience, with a different generation of devices.”

But, hey, at least the thought of remaking the game came into their minds. We can hold onto that for now. Hopefully, Ceraldi’s team would have the remake released by the time PlayStation 5 hits the stores next holiday 2020. Indeed, that would be the best gift for any Simpsons fan.
